<image:title>Resources - Books</image:title>
<image:caption>Be careful-books can be weaponized! That happens when you read a book and use the information to make your life harder. Do not do that! Instead, gather the information that works for you and your child and try it out. If it does not work, let it go! Below are some suggestions. I will update this list often so check back. Yes Brain—Dan Siegel A quick and easy read to look at behavior in a different way. Get it here. Whole Brain Child—Dan Siegel This book came out before "Yes Brain" it is even quicker and easier and helps you understand a child's behavior from a brain-based approach. Practical strategies and visuals! Get it here. Buddhism for Mothers—Sarah Naptali This was my bible when my kids were little. It focuses on mindfulness as a parent. Get it here. Simplicity Parenting—Kim John Payne & Lisa M. Ross Don't let the details in this one stress you out. It is a good read about how to keep it simple. Get it here. Raising a Human Being—Ross Greene I love his Collaborative Problem Solving Approach. If you have me for a workshop I would be glad to discuss how I use it as a therapist and as a parent. Get it here. Art of Roughhousing—Anthony T. DeBenedet and Lawerence J. Cohen Really great book on why playing rough is great. I like to give this to parents who are worried about their child's aggression during play. Also great for parents who already roughhouse with their kids so they can understand why it is important for brain development. Get it here. The Sensory Sensitive Child-Practical Solutions for Out of Bounds Behavior— Karen A. Smith & Karen R. Gouze There are so many books out on the topic of sensory differences in children. This is in my top two. Get it here. Raising a Sensory Smart Child: The Definitive Handbook —Nancy Peske & Lindsey Biel There are so many books out on the topic of sensory differences in children. This is the other of my top two. Get it here.</image:caption>

<image:title>Resources - Sensory Integration</image:title>
<image:caption>Sensory Integration Lucy Jane Miller and her group have been working for years to expand and redefine Ayers work in Sensory Integration. They have coined the term Sensory Processing Disorder (SPD). Their website has the new research in SPD and lots of other good information. Go here. Learn more about Ayers Sensory Integration at SI global network. Go here. Continuing Education in Ayers Sensory Integration at The Collaborative for Leadership in Ayers Sensory Integration. Go here or here at USC's program for advanced training in Ayers Sensory Integration. If you want to find activities for your child with sensory differences you can find some ideas on my Pinterest.</image:caption>

<image:title>Resources - Special Education</image:title>
<image:caption>Special Education Services are sometimes needed for a child to get the support that will allow them to be successful in school. I know a lot of parents who are vey hesitant to reach out for these services. They often have a negative association with the term "special education." Try not to let preconceived ideas get in the way of your child's success and self-esteem at school. Use all the resources available to you to support your child. Wrightslaw is my go-to website for any questions I have regarding special education services. Special Education Services are guided by Federal law so this is a great site no matter what state you live in. It has a great search engine where you can type in your topic and find answers. You can also find answers about 504 plans. In Oregon, if you have concerns about your under school age child, you can contact Early Intervention/Early Childhood Services for your county. Here is the link for the state of Oregon. For parents in Oregon looking for support to navigate special education services you can go to Fact Oregon. There you will find endless resources to support your child with special needs. In Washington State, if you have concerns about your under school age child, you can contact Early Intervention/Early Childhood Services for your county here. For parents in Washington looking for support to navigate special education services you can go to PAVE. If you are in another state you can search "Early Intervention Services/Early Childhood Services (insert state)." Understood is a great additional resource for a variety of learning needs.</image:caption>

<image:title>Resources - A few of my favorite things</image:title>
<image:caption>Hey if you make a website I think you should be able to have some fun with it! Here are a few things that make me happy. Faery Hair! A little sparkle for your hair. Getting these in my hair makes me so happy. I have a dream to one day make money doing this on the beach in Hawaii. Until then here is my faery (she sparkles in Portland, Oregon). You can order kits through her and sparkle yourself. Finger-nail Magic! This polish changes color in the sun! So fun and satisfying! It is the little things, right? I am obsessed with sparkling water. My top favorite is Topo Chico -it has the perfect amount of bubbles! My second favorite is Voss-their bubbles are excellent and their lime mint is perfection. One of my favorite meditations guides is Sarah Blondin. She is magic. Collecting vintage ring is one of my hobbies follow @bluemarsdrygoods for some good ring deals!</image:caption>

<image:title>Home - Welcome,</image:title>
<image:caption>So glad you are here! My work focuses on supporting capacity, regulation, and values-driven responses—rather than behavior management or compliance-based approaches. I am deeply passionate about this work because I have seen the harm that occurs when children and caregivers are asked to function beyond their capacity—and then blamed when they can’t. My approach is relational, practical, and deeply respectful of neurodivergence, grounded in the belief that regulation and growth come from support, not pressure. And did I mention fun? Yes—we will have a lot of fun doing this work together. I believe learning should be meaningful, empowering, and enjoyable. Expect plenty of “aha!” moments, practical tools you can actually use, and a lot of laughter along the way. If this resonates, I invite you to fill out the form at the bottom so we can connect. I can’t wait to meet you. Rock on! Dr. Lara Levine, OTD, OTR/L Occupational Therapist & Parent Coach</image:caption>
